What is Dutch Plantin Coconut Coco Coir Pith?

Dutch Plantin is an earth friendly renewable, sustainable, and biodegradable. It is extensively tested and used as an advanced alternative plant growth medium to peat moss.

Coco peat is the waste product of the coconut de-husking process, during which time the long fibers are extracted for use as rope “fiber”, mattress fiber, cushion fill material, and as an environmentally safe growing media for plants.

Coconut coir is the fiber or coir dust by-product from when the coconut husks are processed for the extraction of the long fibers from the husk. Coconut coir pith is the binding material that comes from the coconut husk. The coco coir is washed, screened and graded again before being processed into various Dutch Plantin coconut coir products sold in bulk for Horticultural and Agricultural applications.
Coconut coir is a multi-purpose soil amendment, soil conditioner, soil “buster” and plant growing medium.

It is consistent and uniform in texture, completely homogenous material composed of millions of capillary micro-sponges, which absorb and hold up to eight times its own weight in water.
It’s natural pH of 5.7 to 7.0, plus an unusually high air of average 27% along with easily available water assures that coir will hold and release nutrients in solution over extended periods without re-watering.
Having a slow degradation rate, it conditions the soil, attracts beneficial bacteria and buffers to optimum pH levels. Coconut Coir has been universally accepted as an excellent plant growth substrate as well as a soil amendment.
