In the second half of 2007, we saw that the forecast for the production of sphagnum peat was rather negative, 2007 was too humid and the atumn and winter too warm and wet.

Besides the problems in availability of sphagnum peat, we will notice the effect in the quality of the peat: more fine and therefore a lower airporosity and less draining.

Dutch Plantin anticipated as good as possible on this situation by creating an extra production capacity of Coco-fibre and Coco-chips.

By adding Coco-fibre and Coco-chips to potting soil, a better, more airily and draining structure can be realised.
