Dutch Plantin sees itself as a cutting-edge company, especially when it comes to socially responsible business. We respect the world around us both people and environment.
Bio-coconut products
Our coconut products are produced on the basis of fairness and sustainability; coconut husks used to be regarded as a waste product. Sustainability is also a key element in the production process. It is no coincidence that we have been certified by the Institute of Marketecology (IMO). This renowned Swiss inspection body guarantees that our bio-coconut products are manufactured in environmentally friendly conditions. We have a unique product that we are allowed to call bio-coconut as it is produced without the use of harmful pesticides and we treat and recycle our waste water wherever possible.
Creating jobs in India
Another typical example of our focus on sustainability is our Bergtop growbag factory in Sivanangai, India. We built it without any assistance in a remote region, where employment is scarce. The arrival of the factory has given the local economy an enormous boost without threatening the livelihood of existing businesses. Bergtop employs 250 people. We recently acquired a bus to offer our employees a safe way of travelling to and from the production site.
As well as boosting employment, Bergtop also increases the income of local farmers. They can now sell the husk which used to be thrown away.
