Is all coco the same?
In professional horticulture, coco seems to be becoming a more important player as substrate, every year. Nevertheless, experiences are not always positive and therefore we focus on two important characteristics of coco: the physical aspects and the chemical aspects which can highly vary depending on the supplier.

Investments
Production capacity and storage facilities are crucial for Dutch Plantin. How else can we meet the expanding demand for our products? Therefore, we have invested in multiple warehouses, that guarantee our deliveries, even in rainy times like we have seen in the past few months. In India, we increased the number of presses. As a result, we were able to produce and deliver more growbags than ever before. Another effect of this investment is the fact that we are able to load more growbags on one pallet and lower the shipping costs per growbag. Furthermore we are planning on investing in a new track and trace system. This will also include a modernization of the pallet labels.

Unique coir pith no one can get close to
Dutch Plantin aims to centralize the supply of raw materials for coir products in India, to ensure the quality of our products and to meet our customers' standards in the best possible way. As an answer to the ever increasing demand for coir pith, we see organizations enter the market with coir products of fluctuating quality levels. Especially too young coir pith can cause problems in the growing process, because it cannot provide the necessary stability, which means that the product cannot be buffered optimally. This can cause a sudden shortage of calcium en high rates of potassium and boron. For all horticulture products, Dutch Plantin only uses special aged coir that provides the essential stability.

Dutch Plantin at the Soft Fruit Conference 2012 in the Netherlands
"Growers deserve the best quality. Ask for 100% Dutch Plantin coir."That's the message that Dutch Plantin will deliver at the Soft Fruit Conference 2012, which is held in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. The first day of this convention, January 18th, is organized especially for Dutch and Belgian growers and is called 'Aardbeiendag'. More information can be found at www.aardbeiendag.nl. Ongoing expansion of Dutch Plantin
First of all, Dutch Plantin wishes you a happy and healthy 2012. This new year will bring new opportunities, just like 2011. We closed last year successfully, in the Netherlands as well as in India. Our new production site in Boekel (NL) is fully operational, which allows us to meet the increased demand for the various types of coir. In India, we will expand our influence in the production process of coir. Our goal is to monitor and control the quality of the production process from the beginning to the end. In the past, we worked with partners who met Dutch Plantin's standards. But the only way to optimize the quality of our products at all times, is by implementing all steps of the production in our own factories.

New exhibition in Vienna
Dutch Plantin Coir Pvt Ltd joined recently a new show in Vienna, called Hortivienna. It is held in Vienna for the first time from 27 to 29 September and attracts visitors from Austria and the surrounding countries. Pro Horto Ltd is already for many years the representative in Central Europe for Dutch Plantin.

Dutch Plantin at the PCA in Australia
Along with Redox, our partner in Australia, Dutch Plantin participated in the biennial Protected Cropping Australia (PCA) Conference and Exhibition. This interesting and well organised event showed us, in many ways, the modern face of horticulture and was held in the Adelaide Convention Centre from the 3rd of July until the 6th of July. At the exhibition, we were happy to see the growing acceptance of and interest in our range of Optima growbags among vegetable growers. They said they were happy with the quality and the consistency of Dutch Plantin growbags and indicated they will stick with Dutch Plantin as long as the quality is maintained.

Dutch Plantin's Open Days are a resounding success
Spread over two days, Dutch Plantin presented the new production location in Boekel (The Netherlands) to a broad audience. The doors were open on Friday 24th of June for business relations and guests and on Saturday 25th of June all the stops were pulled out once again to introduce interested visitors to Dutch Plantin's products. A dinner in a special setting, a glider flight over the region, insight into the production process and attention for the Amaidi Foundation formed the ingredients for two fantastic days.

Coco-15, the new addition to the assortiment
Dutch Plantin started with the production of cocopeat over twenty years ago. The product quickly got the cultivators' attention. They were pleased that there was a new substrate available that as well as organic, was also stable, airy and able to hold enough water. Potting soil producers also saw the benefits. They started using the coco in large quantities to improve substrate mixes. With the introduction of coco chips, Dutch Plantin added a new dimension to improvements in potting soil and the development of substrates. Since then there is a new addition to the assortment: coco-15. The number 15 represents the average length of the fibres, which is 15 mm. With the development of this product new growth opportunities have emerged.

Dutch Plantin joins the The 2010 Growtech Eurasia Fair to be held from 2 - 5 December in Antalya, Turkey.
In its 10th year Growtech Eurasia has grown by 20 percent, reaching a record 25,000 square meters in exhibition/stand space. As the largest agriculture fair in Turkey and its region Growtech Eurasia will host more than 500 local and international brands from 25 countries this year.
