In coir business the ultimate challenge of matching demand and supply is all about planning production and logistics. Not an easy task, because it is seriously affected by monsoons in India and Ivory Coast. Dutch winters are always unpredictable. Last year, for instance, we had none whatsoever…

How does Dutch Plantin deal with this?

Monsoons in India and Ivory Coast are not always ‘according to plan’ and we have to be organized in order to meet the agreed periods for delivery.

It is all about having the right amounts of coir in stock at the right times:

*  It stands to reason that a stable product requires raw materials of a certain age.
*  Dry and loose coir pith and chips are stored in large barns.
*  Compressed 5 kg blocks in India and Ivory Coast.
*  Compressed 5 kg blocks in The Netherlands.
*  Treated and washed loose coir in the Netherlands, ready to be supplied.

In doing so, Dutch Plantin takes every effort to be prepared for the next season.
